How do I transfer my New York license to Real?

Welcome to Real!

Steps to become fully active at Real in New York:

1. Complete a Real Join Application

1️⃣ COMPLETE A REAL JOIN APPLICATION

Complete a Real Application by signing the Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA) and paying the Application Fee using the steps below.

You will need the following items to complete your application:

• License Number(s) and Expiration Date(s)
• MLS and Board information
• Sponsor name and email
• A photo of the front of your Driver’s License
• Payment information for the Application Fee

***Remember your login credentials that you create during the Application since this will be your login information for reZEN once your application has been approved.

2️⃣ TRANSFER YOUR LICENSE TO REAL

Active Licensees

To transfer your existing license to Real, follow these steps:

• Before we can affiliate you with Real, you need to contact your current broker and ask them to release your license.
• Once you have been released from your previous brokerage, please email onboarding@therealbrokerage.com notifying your Onboarding Specialist when your license has been released.  Please include in your reply a copy of your NY RE License number to ensure we have the correct number on file.  Your Onboarding Specialist will coordinate with your new broker, Cesar Garcia, to add your license to one of the following of our rosters:
  • Real Broker, LLC - if you are already a member or plan to join REBNY, OLR MLS, or Brooklyn MLS
  • Real Broker NY, LLC - all other boards and MLS in the state of NY
  • Real Broker LFRO LLC - if you plan to be a Real Select, Referral Only agent
  • Real Broker Commercial, LLC - if you plan on only doing Commercial Real Estate transactions

New Licensees

If you are a new agent and choosing Real as your brokerage, follow the steps below. This process can take 2-3 weeks to be approved and show on eAccessNY. We cannot convert your joining app to active until you are officially showing on eAccessNY affiliated with Real. 

• Once you sign your ICA and pay your Join Fee, you should receive a call from our New York Broker, Celinda Iaboni, to determine the correct Office and Branch for you to join. If you need immediate assistance, you can contact her directly: +1 (518) 730-4228
• After your call with Celinda Iaboni, Create your account on eAccessNY or login to your account if you already have one. Here you will start the sponsorship process. You will need the following information:
  •  
    • Commercial Agents:
      Real Broker Commercial LLC
      Brokerage License#: 10991231405
      Broker of Record License#: 10491213856
       
    • All other agents - use the table below

  • Once you have submitted your request to eAccessNY for the proper office, your new broker, Cesar Garcia, will authorize your application on eAccessNY.
  • Next, the NY Department of State will review your application to make sure it's complete and meets the qualifications for a real estate salesperson license.
  • This process can take 2-3 weeks to be approved by the State and show on eAccessNY. Once you are officially showing on eAccessNY affiliated with Real we will complete your onboarding. 
  • Your license will be mailed to your business address--this can take 6-8 weeks for New York State to send.

After completing the above steps:

Once your license is affiliated with Real and your Join Application is approved you'll receive the Welcome, Next Steps email. 

New to Real? Look out for your welcome email once your license transfer is complete. This will include your Post-Onboarding Instructions, details on our Onboarding class, link to our Marketing Center and more!

Already a Real agent? Please contact the Onboarding Team and they will add your license to your existing reZEN account.

3️⃣ FACILITATE YOUR MLS AND BOARD TRANSFERS

4️⃣ UPDATE YOUR MARKETING/ADVERTISING

Please review all New York advertising requirements here:

In all instances of advertising in the state of New York, an advertisement must include:

• Legal name of brokerage; Real Broker or Real Broker NY
• Address of Brokerage
• Agent’s license number on business cards
• Agent’s title; "Licensed Real Estate Salesperson" or "Licensed Real Estate Broker"
• Agent’s phone number
• Agent's email address OR personal website (one is required, both is optional)
• Brokerage phone number (855-450-0442) not required IF agent phone number is their direct phone number.
• Real’s logo
   
• Teams (If applicable)
  • Team names shall either: 
    • (i) include the full licensed name of the real estate brokers, associate brokers or real estate salespersons who are part of said team, or 
    • (ii) if the names are not included, the team name must be immediately followed by “at/of [full name of the broker/brokerage].”
    • Team names shall use the term “team.” The use of any other terms besides “team,” such as “associate,” “realty” or “group” is prohibited. 
    • The use of the name of a non-licensed individual in a team name is prohibited. For twelve months after the adoption of this regulation, teams that have changed their name to comply with this provision shall be entitled to state in advertisements under their new name that they were ‘formerly known as’ their prior team name.
  • If any unlicensed individuals are named in advertising for a team, the advertisement must clearly and conspicuously state which individuals are real estate licensees and which ones are not.

5️⃣ TRANSFER YOUR ACTIVE LISTINGS TO REAL

If you are re-listing your active listing(s) with Real Broker, please submit forms electronically to NYsign@therealbrokerage.com for signature using an electronic signature platform.

2. Attend Real Transaction Training - Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 1PM ET to learn how to enter listings and transactions, understand the steps to getting paid, process referral payments, and properly terminate listings or transactions.
    
3. Attend Navigating Real's Technology to learn how to effectively use Real Signature, Real Academy, and Workvivo to help you work smarter and more efficiently.
    
4. Attend Marketing Training - Mondays @ 1PM ET to learn about the many marketing resources available to help you build your brand. 
    
5. Attend Real's Benefits and Programs to understand what is offered and how to access benefits and programs exclusive to Real Agents.
    
6. Attend Ways to Earn Income at Real to learn more about Real’s wealth-building opportunities like stock and equity, Elite Agent status, revenue share, and more.
    

7️⃣ JOIN THE WORKVIVO STATE SPACE

Workvivo is our online Real community hub for Real agents. Each State/Province has a Group space for you to to easily see updates and access meetings and resources. You can also join others groups to interact with other agents at Real, especially for referrals and tips.
