How do I Transfer my West Virginia License to Real?

Welcome to Real!

Steps to become fully active at Real in West Virginia:

  1. Complete a Real Join Application
  2. Transfer Your License to Real
  3. Facilitate Your Board and MLS Transfers
  4. Update Your Marketing/Advertising
  5. Transfer Your Active Listings to Real
  6. Register for Training
  7. Join the Workvivo State Space
  8. Bookmark the Real Knowledge Base

1️⃣ COMPLETE A REAL JOIN APPLICATION

Complete a Real Application by signing the Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA) and paying the Application Fee using the steps below.

You will need the following items to complete your application:

  • License Number(s) and Expiration Date(s)
  • MLS and Board information
  • Sponsor name and email
  • A photo of the front of your Driver’s License
  • Payment information for the Application Fee

***Remember your login credentials that you create during the Application since this will be your login information for reZEN once your application has been approved.

2️⃣ TRANSFER YOUR LICENSE TO REAL

Now that you have signed your ICA and paid the join fee, it's time to transfer your license to Real! To initiate this process, follow these instructions:

Existing Licensees   

THERE IS A CHANGE OF BROKER FEE OF $20.00 AND PAPER PROCESSING FEE OF $10.00 or ONLINE PROCESSING FEE $5.00   

To transfer your existing license to Real, the first thing you will need to complete the Change of Employing Broker Form that was sent to you in Real Signature. Once you have completed your information, it will automatically be sent to the Broker for signature. After the document is executed, it will come to your email inbox to submit to the Real Estate Commission for process. 

Along with the Change of Employing Broker Form, they will want ​you to upload a single file with the following documents to continue: the signed Change of Broker Form and your signed license.  If your license status is currently inactive, you will need to not only include proof of CE hours in the file upload, but you will need to complete the License Status Update Form.   The file must be in a PDF format and less than 5MB in size. 

1) Click on Change of Employing Broker Form

2) In the Applicant Section:

  • Once you have this form completed and returned from the West Virginia broker, save it to your computer as you will need it let in this process. You will now be able to start your license transfer process. 

1) Go to:  https://apps.wv.gov/REC/Licensing/Change/Change/Index

2) Fill in the following information:

  • Fill in your License number
  • Company Number: 005216
  • Branch id: 00
  • Fill in your social security number
    • Click Continue

3) Fill in the following information

If joining as a Residential Agent:

  • New Broker Company Number:  010235
  • New Company Name: Real Broker, LLC
  • New Broker Name: Frank Oliverio
  • New Broker License Number: WVB230300921
  • Branch ID: 00

If joining as a Real Select - Referral Only Agent:

  • New Broker Company Number: 010267
  • New Company Name: Real Broker LFRO LLC
  • New Broker Name: Frank Oliverio
  • New Broker License Number: WVB230300921
  • Branch ID: 00

  4) In the Broker Signature File section, upload the Change of Employing Broker Form you previously saved to your computer. 

  • Click Continue
  • Review the Filing information

5) Fill out the following information on the review information page 

  • Fill out your email address
  • Confirm your email address
  • Click Pay Now
    • On this page fill in your information
      • Click I understand
  • Fill in your credit card information
    • Click Pay Now
    • Save your payment confirmation for your records

At this point, your Designated Broker, Frank Oliverio, and the Onboarding Specialist will confirm the transfer with the West Virginia Real Estate Board. 

 

For Newly Licensed Agents

After you have passed the exams you will submit an Online Application and upload the following documents:

  1. Copy of your proof of passing both portions of the exam
  2. Lic​ense Letter - Salesperson 
  • Fill out the top section of the License Letter 
  • When you get to the Certificate of New Employing Broker section, please send the document to wvbroker@therealbrokerage.com for completion via a digital signature platform.
  • Once you receive the completed document back from the West Virginia Broker, save this file to your computer as you will need it later in the process.

Once you have the copy of your proof of passing both portions of the exam and the License Letter- Sales Person:

 Click on Online Application

 Click on Start Application for License

Fill out the application for license and click Continue

After completing the above steps:

Your Designated Broker, Frank Oliverio, and the Onboarding Coordinator will confirm the transfer with the Virginia Real Estate Board.

Already a Real agent? Please contact Real Support and our support team will add your license to your existing reZEN account.

4️⃣ UPDATE YOUR MARKETING/ADVERTISING

Please review all West Virginia advertising requirements here:

WV State Requirements: In all instances of advertising in the state of West Virgina, an advertisement must include:

  • Legal name of brokerage
  • Name of responsible broker and the term broker
  • Real’s logo (optional)
  • The physical address of a licensed office location
  • Phone number of record: (304) 381-1630
  • This information must be prominently displayed.
  • The names of associate brokers and salespersons shall not be included in the advertisement unless the associate brokers and salesperson are clearly identified as such.
  • Broker Supervision- no salesperson, associate broker or team shall advertise any property under his, her, or their name without the name of the responsible broker. All advertising by an associate broker, salesperson, or team must be under the direct supervision of and in the name of the responsible broker.
  • Business cards and other promotional items- advertising which is not for a specific property or service must include the name of the responsible broker and the term “Broker” along with such other information as may be included by the licensee.

Teams (if applicable)

In §17412.10 a team is defined: “any group of two or more associate brokers and/or salespersons, and other non-licensed professionals, affiliated with the same responsible broker or company.”

Any licensee that advertises as being part of a team must:

  • Include in the advertisement the name of at least one of the licensees. The licensee is not required to include in the advertisement the names of every member of the team.
  • Include in the advertisement the name of the brokerage under which the licensees are licensed and ensure it is displayed in equal prominence with the team name and with the name of the salesperson in the advertisement.
  • Any unlicensed team member whose name is included must be identifed as unlicensed
  • Include the term “group,” “team,” or a comparable term in the team name
  • Do not use the terms “realty,” “associates,” “company,” or any language that may imply that the team is a brokerage as it might be misleading to the public.
  • If these requirements are met, photographs of members may be included in the advertisement without disclosing the names of all the members in the photograph.

5️⃣ TRANSFER YOUR ACTIVE LISTINGS TO REAL

If you are re-listing your active listing(s) with Real Broker, please submit forms electronically to wvbroker@therealbrokerage.com for signature using an electronic signature platform.

Workvivo is our online Real community hub for Real agents. Each State/Province has a Group space for you to to easily see updates and access meetings and resources. You can also join others groups to interact with other agents at Real, especially for referrals and tips.

To do so, go to www.joinreal.com/app on your mobile device. You’ll be prompted to download the app. You can also search for Real reZEN through the app store on your mobile device.

**Important, you will use the login information you created in Step 1 to log into your agent application.
