How to Join Real in British Columbia

Before you can transfer/register your license, you must fill out an online application first, sign the Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA), and pay your join fee to Real. Need help with these steps? How to Join Real.

British Columbia License Transfer/Registration Instructions:

Newly Licensed agents:

When you have completed the application to Real and are eligible to get your real estate license, please follow the steps below on how to get registered:

• Complete your BC Mentor Agreement for First Time Licensees 
  1. Find a mentor from the List of available mentors
  2. Sign both Legal Agreement AND the New Licensee Addendum - this is required for newly licensed agents in BC
  3. Once signed by both parties, send the completed forms to onboarding@therealbrokerage.com
• Sign up for post licensing on BCFSA
• Submit "Application for First Time License: Individual" with Real brokerage through the BCFSA IRIS portal
• There will be seven branches to select from when applying through BCFSA. You must reference the correct brokerage ID#:

  • Vancouver X038128
  • Surrey X038129 (Fraser Valley Real Estate Board)
  • Kelowna X036064 (Interior Association of Realtors)
  • Campbell River REX603693 (Vancouver Island Real Estate Board)
     
  • Prince George REX605436 (BC Northern Real Estate Board)
  • Powell River REX605158 (Powell River Sunshine Coast Real Estate Board)

• New applications are processed by BCFSA within 15-35 business days after approval by the Managing  Broker
• Once your license is registered, our onboarding team will be in touch with the next steps at Real

*Important Notice*

1. Temp License issued after component 1
2. Once you have the temp license, you have 6 months to complete all the components of post licensing
3. Then you have to take applied practice course put on by BCFSA
4. After applied practice is completed and post licensing is done then you get your regular license

Transferring Agents:

After you have completed the application to Real, follow the steps below on how to transfer your license:

• Login to the Real Estate Portal on the BCFSA website to begin your online transfer
• Select “Licensee Transfer” in the menu on the left. Follow the instructions to complete the online application. The license number of the branch office will be required - select which branch you will be under:
  • Victoria X038127
  • Vancouver X038128
  • Surrey X038129 (Fraser Valley Real Estate Board)
  • Kelowna X036064 (Interior Association of Realtors)
  • Campbell River REX603693 (Vancouver Island Real Estate Board)
     
  • Prince George REX605436 (BC Northern Real Estate Board)
  • Powell River REX605158 (Powell River Sunshine Coast Real Estate Board)
• Upload any supporting documentation required. You will need supporting documentation if:  You are making a Legal Name change and/or you need to support your answers to questions in the Reputation and Suitability section of the application
• Once you have completed the online application, you and your managing broker will receive an email prompting the managing broker to approve your application in the BCFSA Portal
• Transfer applications are processed by BCFSA within 1-5 business days after approval by the Managing  Broker
• Once your license transfer is complete, our team will be in touch to complete your onboarding process

Join Board(s):

Once your license is transferred with BCFSA, you need to transfer your license with the Board. If you are moving to a New Board you will need to resign from your current Board and fill out a New Member Application with the Board you intend to join - see below for instructions for each Board.

REAL ESTATE BOARD OF GREATER VANCOUVER (REBGV)- Firm ID: 5690

#2 Membership Change Notification Form (takes 1-3 days) (web forms)

> Transfer from another Board to Vancouver Board

#2 Resign from Current Board 

#3 Membership application form to Vancouver Board $ 105 fee (web forms) 

#4 Fill out the Agent Load Contract and return to the board

FRASER VALLEY REAL ESTATE BOARD (FVREB)- Firm ID: 043891

> Within the Fraser Valley Board 

#1 Change with BCFSA 

#2 Fill out Active Member Change of brokerage form (web forms) #3 Fill listing Transfer Form If applicable (web forms) 

> Transfer from another Board to Fraser Valley Board  

#1 change with BCFSA  

#2 Resign from current Board  

#3 Fill out Application for Individual Membership form (web forms) 

#4 Fill out the Agent Modify Access Application and return to board

#5 Sign Up for direct billing following these instructions

> Transfer from another Board to the BC Northern Real Estate Board

#1 change with BCFSA  

#2 Resign from current Board  

#3 Fill out Active Member Application Form (tick the new member box)

Transfer your active listings to Real:

Victoria Real Estate Board: 

• An agent must fill out a Transfer of Listing Form.
• Once signed by you, the seller, and your previous Brokerage, send to membershipCAD@therealbrokerage.com to sign. 
• Then, send the completed form to info@vreb.org. 

Vancouver Island Real Estate Board: 

• An agent must fill out a Transfer of Listing Form. 
• Once signed by you, the seller, and your previous Brokerage, send to bcbroker1@therealbrokerage.com to sign. 
• Send the completed form to listings@VIREB.com 

Fraser Valley Real Estate Board: 

• An agent must fill out a Transfer of Listing Form. 
• Once signed by you, the seller, and your previous Brokerage, send to bcbroker1@therealbrokerage.com to sign. 
• Send the completed form to memsvsc@fvreb.bc.ca 

Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver:

• Your previous brokerage must prepare the Transfer of listing form. 
• The form(s) must be signed by your previous brokerage’s manager to release it.
• Once signed by you, the seller, and your previous Brokerage, send to bcbroker1@therealbrokerage.com - Real must sign to receive it. 
• Send the completed form to: memberservices@rebgv.org.  

Association of Interior Realtors:

• An agent must complete the Transfer of Listing form 
• Once signed by signed by you, the seller, and your previous Brokerage, send to bcbroker1@therealbrokerage.com.
