Why does Real charge a Transaction Fee?
We charge a minimal fee to help cover our operating costs as we continue to offer some of the industry's most competitive economic incentives while delivering top-tier technology and support.
You can see an overview of all fees here: How much does it cost to hang my license with Real?
What happens if there are co-agents on a transaction?
If more than one agent is receiving a commission on a transaction, the transaction fee will be prorated according to the percentage of the total commission they each receive.
For example, Amy is an agent representing a seller and is co-listing with Connor, another Real Agent. Amy will receive 60% of the commission, and Connor will receive 40%. Amy is capped, so she will pay 60% of the $285 transaction fee, or $171. If Connor is also capped, he will pay the remaining 40%, or $114. If Connor is not capped, he will pay the normal pre-cap 15% split of his portion of the commission.
What happens if there is a referral to another Real agent on a transaction?
If a Real agent refers business to another Real agent, the agent representing the client can add the referring agent to the transaction as a referral. This creates a secondary transaction called a referral transaction. For more information on referral transactions, click here: How do I refer business to another Real Agent? (Internal Referral)
If an internal referral is added to a transaction, the transaction fee is charged on both the main transaction and the internal referral transaction.
What happens if I am on a team?
If you are on a team, your transaction fee is calculated based on your Team Settings.
If Proration is OFF:
The Post-Cap Transaction Fee is only applied to the transaction when the Team Member meets their Cap to Real and whatever amount the Team Member and/or the Team Leader pays of that fee will be applied to the payer's account.
For example:
- Team Lead gets 20% commission
- Team Member gets 80% commission
- For a US Transaction, the Team Member has met their Cap to Real and the default setting will apply the full $285 to them and the Team Member will receive the "credit" to their account.
If Proration is ON:
The Post-Cap Transaction Fee will be split proportionally with the Team Split on each transaction.
For example:
- Team Lead gets 20% commission
- Team Member gets 80% commission
- For a US Transaction, the Team Lead will pay a $57 transaction fee ($285 x 20%). The Team Member will pay a $228 ($285 x 80%) transaction fee.
If you hit Elite Agent status, your transaction fee may change. Please see: What happens to transaction (post-cap) fees once a team lead hits Elite?
