A $40 fee per transaction, which covers broker review, E&O (professional liability) insurance, and processing, will be assessed on every transaction in the United States the company processes.
The CBR Fee will also apply to transactions in Canada according to the schedule below:
- For any new agent who joins Real by March 31, 2025, the changes will take effect on their anniversary date at Real.
- For any agent who joins Real on or after April 1, 2025, these changes will take immediate effect.
- For existing Real agents, these changes will take effect May 1, 2025 or after, based on their anniversary date.
Why does Real charge a CBR Fee?
This fee covers broker review, E&O (professional liability) insurance, and processing.
We charge a minimal fee to help cover our operating costs as we continue to offer some of the industry's most competitive economic incentives while delivering top-tier technology and support.

What happens if there are other Real agents on the transaction?
If there are any other Real agents on the transaction, the CBR fee will be split amongst the participants based on each agent's split of the Gross Commission.
For example:
- Mary receives 75% of the Gross commission. Mary will pay 75% of the CBR fee.
- Tom receives 25% of the Gross Commission. Tom will pay 25% of the CBR fee.
What happens if I am on a team?
If you are on a team, the CBR fee will be split evenly among the participants based on each agent's split of the Gross Commission.
For example:
- Team Lead + 1 Team Member on a Deal:
- Team Lead receives 10% of the Gross Commission. Team Lead will pay 10% of the CBR fee.
- Team Member receives 90% of the Gross Commission. Team Member will pay 90% of the CBR fee.
Example #2:
- Team Lead + 2 Team Members on a Deal
- Team Lead receives 20% of Gross Commission. Team Lead will pay 20% of the CBR fee.
- Team Member receives 50% of Gross Commission. Team Member will pay 60% of the CBR or fee.
- Team Member receives 30% of Gross Commission. Team Member will pay 60% of the CBR fee.
