To ensure transparency about referral fees and a consumer's right to choose, and to minimize the risk of potential breach of fiduciary duty claims due to lack of disclosure, Real requires clients to sign the Consumer Choice and Referral Fee Disclosure. This document protects both agents and consumers by clearly describing referral fees and outlining the consumer’s right and responsibility to choose and evaluate their own service providers. These providers may include lenders, contractors, title companies, inspectors, attorneys, and others involved in the transaction. While an agent may offer recommendations, the final decision about which service providers to use always belongs to the consumer.
You can find the Consumer Choice & Referral Fee Disclosure linked below. Please be sure to use the appropriate version for your State or Province. You can also find the disclosure in your State or Province Folder in the Library tab in Real Signature!
