What is the difference between the Team Cap and Agent Cap?

If you are on a Team, you may notice two Caps on your profile. 

Your Agent Cap (sometimes called Real Cap):
is the dollar amount owed to Real from the Company's split of Commission. 

  • Once you pay your Agent cap, you won't pay the 15% split to Real anymore. 
  • This will reset on your cap reset date. 
  • Every agent has an Agent Cap.

Note: in some cases, your Team Leader may pay your Agent Cap on your behalf. 

Your Team Cap: is the dollar amount owed to your Team Leader from the Team's split of Commission. 

  • Once you pay your Team cap, you won't pay a split to your team leader anymore.
  • This will reset on your cap reset date. 
  • Not every team has this.

Another way to think about your Agent Cap and Team Cap is:

  • You will pay a 15% split to Real on every deal... until you pay your Agent Cap. Then, you owe the post cap transaction fee on each deal. 
    • Reminder: this resets every year!
    • Note: in some cases, your Team Leader may pay your Agent cap on your behalf. Please consult your Team Leader / Team Agreement for more information. 
  • If your Team Leader has a Team Cap, you will pay the Team Split until you hit your Team Cap.
    • Reminder: this resets every year!
    • Not all teams have a cap. If your Team does not have a cap, you will pay the Team Split on every deal.
