After you sign the Independent Contractor Agreement:
Now that you have signed your ICA and paid the join fee, it's time to transfer your license to Real!
- Please log in to your California Department of Real Estate eLicensing System account.
- Once inside the eLicensing system, choose "Change Responsible Broker" and then enter
- To join as a Residential Agent: Real Broker's license #: 02022092.
- To join as Referral Only Agent: Real Broker's license #: 02228473.
- You will be asked if the Broker is available to confirm the transfer, choose "NO" and enter your new Designated State Broker email address: cabroker@therealbrokerage.com.
If you are a broker in California, in addition to the above please verify via the Department of Real Estate if the Broker-Associate Affiliation Notification (RE 215), Rev 7/20 is required for your transfer - see below for instructions.
After completing the above steps:
Your Designated State Broker, Jason Lopez, will receive a message from the California Department of Real Estate and confirm the transfer.
New to Real? Look out for your welcome email once your license transfer is complete. This will include your Post-Onboarding Instructions, details on our Onboarding class, link to our Marketing Center and more!
Already a Real agent? Please email support@therealbrokerage.com and our support team will add your license to your existing reZEN account.
Special Circumstances:
Brokers:
If you want to join Real as an Associate Broker, you will need to fill out RA215.
- Please sign your section in a signature management tool (e.g. Real Signature, DocuSign) and share with casign@therealbrokerage.com
- The CA Broker will sign Real’s portion on your behalf.
- Once fully executed, please send the fully executed version to:

- P.O. Box 137004
- Sacramento, CA 95813-7003
- It may take 4-6 weeks for the DRE to approve this transfer. Once the State processes this, it will appear in the DRE website for us to certify.
If you are joining Real as a Managing Broker / Broker in Charge, please work with Real’s Brokerage Operations Team to update your license.
Renewal Period
If you are in your Renewal Period and your previous brokerage already signed/submitted your renewal application, we unfortunately cannot transfer your license until your renewal application is approved by the DRE.
If your previous brokerage has not signed or submitted the renewal application, please follow these instructions:
- Please fill out and wet sign the DRE’s 216a: Renewal License Checklist. If you need help finding these forms, please see the DRE’s Form Site.
- Print and wet sign your CE Credit Certificate
- Send both the signed DRE’s 216a: Renewal License Checklist and signed CE Credit Certificate to our Broker by mail:

- Our Broker will sign your CE Credit and send the signed forms to the DRE. This is a paper process - it must be mailed to the Broker.
- The DRE will review your CE Credit and accept it. Once accepted, we will be able to transfer your license. This could take 4 - 6 weeks.
Restricted License
If you have a restricted License, please share all information about why your license is Restricted with Onboarding@therealbrokerage.com. Our team will review your application and reach out to let you know if we will move forward.
If Real’s Onboarding Team approves your license transfer, please follow the following steps:
- Fill out the 214a form - everything must be wet signed
- Once signed, please send to our Broker by mail:
